I know what you want. You want someone who lives and breathes tech. Sure, it's hard for me at parties to talk about other things besides voice over IP and bandwidth. Here you see me converting my home wiring over to Vonage. While this isn't new, the boastable object here is the little crossover box that enables both lines to work correctly in the house, as it was designed. The two gray wires are just two ends of the same single-pair phone cord. I cut them off and stripped and made contact to the two-line connection box. That little beige box to the left of the shot, will eventually be screwed to the wall or taped to the Vonage modem. But as you can see, we got all green lights. We also found out some very useful secrets about Vonage and the quality of the voice line. You have three settings that Vonage controls within the modem itself, but placement of the modem is also critical to optimal performance. As always, when considering Vonage, you have to also consider Yahoo! Voice Chat and Skype and test the quality of each, as it will vary on your individual systems. |
